A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting the guys from We Came As Romans. Over those years, I have built and maintained friendships with a few of the guys, especially Andy Glass, their bass player. Andy has become not only a friend to me, but a huge friend to FakeLife. Never seeking anything in return, he promotes FakeLife, models for FakeLife, creates designs for FakeLife. Anything I have asked of him, he has done with enthusiasm. Andy is an all around awesome guy. Long after people have stopped caring about his band or FakeLife, I'll still be hopping a train to go see him when he is in town.
Recently, when We Came As Romans came through Philadelphia on tour with Miss May I, I did just that and hopped a train to Philly to meet up with Andy.
We hung out, had pizza at Blackbird Pizzeria. I watched the band soundcheck. Andy was also gracious enough to give us the opportunity to take some pics of him wearing some of the new FakeLife releases. Most notably, I photographed Andy wearing the shirt he recently designed for FakeLife, our new "Defeat Your Demons" the.
Our Defeat Your Demons Tee is representative of the soul behind Fakelife Clothing. We all have our demons. The voices in our heads that tell us we are not good enough. The societal lies that consumption is better than contribution, beauty most importantly seen on the outside, and our worth being based on economics, the color of our skin, or where we place our faith. Our demons are our addictions and our faulty truths. This shirt is a reminder that the resistance against our demons is a worthy fight.
It turns out, the show that night was being live-streamed on Yahoo.com.
The tee is available HERE.
Here's a quick video from the day.
